We took these photos in February of 2010 when we were still operating temporary general medical clinics in community spaces like schools, churches and community centers. This was a nighttime clinic that was held in the gazebo in the Plaza de Armas (central plaza) in Micaela Bastidas is in Pueblo Nuevo, Chincha, Peru. The roof and back wall of the Salon Comunal (community center) were damaged during the August 2007 earthquake. By 2010 the roof had caved in and, so, we had little choice but to work outdoors. Siempre Salud’s philosophy is “anywhere anytime” and “medications first, walls later” as long as we can provide high-quality care. We transport the entire clinic to the site: medical records, furniture, generator and lights, equipment, supplies, and medications.
